What are dental composite resins?

A dental composite resin is a tooth-colored plastic mixture filled with glass (silicon dioxide) that can be bonded to teeth. The resin forms a seal that reduces the chance of leakage, a common feature in silver fillings. They also support the remaining tooth structure, and help to prevent breakage. It insulates the tooth from excessive temperature changes.

Is it a painful procedure?

No.The procedure is not painful at all. However, after receiving a composite, it is normal for a patient to experience post-operative sensitivity. The sensitivity is to temperature – hot and cold and this sensitivity subsides after few days.

Should I visit my dentist after the procedure?
